This tattoo of Jon from NJ was based on the Nagbukalan Shrine of Alitagtag, where his mom is from. His friend took that idea and tried to give it a futuristic feel. Its a dedication to his heritage and beliefs. When linked with his tattoo on his left arm (a crest/shield) the overall meaning is one of protection and action for himself and loved ones, to do what he need to in order to do whats best for those he care for the most. In a sense, it is like his sword and shield.

Hello Kitty is a fictional character produced by the Japanese company Sanrio, first designed by Ikuko Shimizu. She is a staple of the kawaii segment of Japanese popular culture.The character is portrayed as a female white Japanese bobtail cat with a red bow and no drawn mouth.

This cute tattoo of Julie from San Diego is what she called “Pinay Kitty”. Know why? Because it is obviously Hello Kitty with Philippine Sun as the ribbon. Plus the color of the ribbon is red, yellow and blue which is the color of the Philippine flag.

The Rosary was popularized by Alan de la Roche (1428-1475), a Breton Dominican with a great reputation for sanctity. Truly an art! This tattoo is composed of dragon wrapping a cross.

Dragon symbolizes power, strength and strong will. On the other hand, cross symbolizes divinity, religion and spirituality.

My Love for the Philippines

Levin Salonga of Milwaukee, WI sent this to us to show his love for the Philippines. He said his heart will always be filled with love for his country even if he’s in States most of his life.

This is not unusual scenario for most of the Filipinos living in abroad. I remember a Filipino song with a lyrics “San ka man mapunta..babalik ka rin..babalik ka rin.” That’s exactly the point! Wherever you are in the globe, your heart will still find its one true home.

“A fetus handling armalite gun”..sounds weird but actually
not based on what you can see in the bearer’s tattoo.

George from Hawaii, which is the bearer, had this tattoo on
his leg as a remembrance of his little girl’s birth while
he was in Iraq. We can assume that he was a military destined
in Iraq because his tat is showing a gun and we all know
the many US militars are being sent to Iraq to maintain
peace and order.

Behind a tribal tattoo is a group, either religious or local, that marks a person as a member. In many cases, it is also used as personal certainty of an individual. The need to belong is the considered as the most basic tribal need.

The image shows the tribal tattoo of Michael Valdez from Milpitas, CA. It covered his arm and chest and he plans to extend it around his back to his whole arms.
