Baybayin tattoo creator

June 18, 2008 - 4,791 views

One of the major reasons why people hesitate getting a tattoo is not knowing how it will look like. To help you get a better idea how a Baybayin tattoo might look like on your body, I create the Baybayin tattoo creator. View the screencast to see how it works….

Here’s how to use it:
1) Select the body part you want to put Baybayin on 2) Drag the characters over the photo
*You can also drag the photos below. Whant to find out what the characters mean? I purposely left out character translations so that you could learn Baybayin.
*I wouldn’t use the Baybayin images below as you may have a the same tattoo as someone else. Get a custom design instead.
*More body parts coming soon. Questions? Suggestions? Leave a comment

If interested, email info@pinoytattoos.com with a resume, some writing samples, and list of favorite websites. No experience necessary.

And speaking of Stars…….Rhoda sent in photos of her lower back star tattoo. Simple but hot looking.

PinoyTattoos.com article feature

May 26, 2008 - 793 views

PinoyTattoos.com was featured in the Contra Costa Times today along with Bay Area tattoo artists.

Here’s an excerpt of the article:

Christian Cabuay of Walnut Creek, founder of PinoyTattoos.com, is fluent in a Filipino script called Baybayin. Although he is not a tattoo artist, his artistic skills and in-depth knowledge have made him a go-to guy for one-of-a-kind Baybayin designs suitable for body art.

Baybayin, a writing system used in the pre-Spanish colonized society of the Philippines, uses specific characters for certain sounds as do other Asian languages. It has been popularly referred to as Alibata, but Cabuay says that isn’t the correct term.

Looking for Asian tattoos for newspaper article

May 8, 2008 - 2,349 views

I was recently interviewed for a local (San Francisco Bay Area) newspaper regarding Baybayin and “Filipino” tattoos. The writer asked me if I knew anyone who had any Asian tattoos. If you 1) Live in the SF Bay area and 2) Have any Asian tattoos and would like to photographed, please submit a photo and mention “Newspaper feature” in the message section. Thanks!

Baybayin translator, forum, and twitter

May 2, 2008 - 2,470 views

One of the hardest things to do is deciding what tattoo to get. If you want a Baybayin tattoo, it’s a lot harder because you have to think of the language translation, style, horizontal, vertical, old school, or modern. All I can say right now is that this new feature, will allow you to see how the tattoo will look like. If you want to test it out, email me.

Version 3 of the PinoyTattoos.com forum is now up. Feel free to register and start a conversation. Look out for exclusive goodies to be announced in the forum.

I finally created a Twitter account for PinoyTattoos.com. If your not familiar with Twitter, it’s a “microblogging” application that allows you to keep in touch with “friends”. You have to check it out to fully understand what it does. Follow PinoyTattoos at Twitter.com/PinoyTattoos.

Site Updates

April 2, 2008 - 445 views

It’s time to take PinoyTattoos.com to the next level. Over the next few months, I will be launching more features. In the 1st of many planned updates, I’ve created a gallery view of the posts. One disadvantage of blogs is that older posts can get buried the older it gets. To fix this, the gallery will feature most of the photos posted. Check it out at PinoyTattoos.com/gallery. Also coming soon……

- More products at the online store
- Artist interviews (If your a Filipino Tattoo artist and want to be interviews, please contact me info(at)pinoytattoos.com)
- Expanded Baybayin gallery
- more…..

With all these new features, the site will probably have to be redesigned. I’m open to any suggestions on how to make this site better.

A couple of people have asked that I post photos of myself. Here’s one of me getting inked by Aleks Figueroa

2008 update

December 11, 2007 - 438 views

pinoy tattoos 2008 redesign

Website
PinoyTattoos.com v.2 will be launched soon. This site has grown a lot since introducing free Baybayin designs and translations a few months ago. Since launching the service on 10/01/07, about 100 translations and designs have been done. This new site will have a cleaner design and much more intuitive navigation system.

Custom Baybayin translations
The translation service will be spit in two. Since the # of requests have been increasing every month, it’s hard to keep up with my initial turnaround time of 48-72 hours. The wait is now about 1-2 weeks. Don’t worry, there will still be a FREE service and will not go away. I look at it as my way of giving back. The value added service will have a quicker turnaround time (48-72) hours depending on when you confirm what you want. I’m still playing around with the price structure but it will be a fair price. While I know that most wont pay for a quicker turnaround time, some people have made tattoo appointments without even knowing what they want to get. My question is, how much do you think a fair price would be for a quicker turnaround time? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you
