One of the major reasons why people hesitate getting a tattoo is not knowing how it will look like. To help you get a better idea how a Baybayin tattoo might look like on your body, I create the Baybayin tattoo creator. View the screencast to see how it works….

Here’s how to use it:
1) Select the body part you want to put Baybayin on 2) Drag the characters over the photo
*You can also drag the photos below. Whant to find out what the characters mean? I purposely left out character translations so that you could learn Baybayin.
*I wouldn’t use the Baybayin images below as you may have a the same tattoo as someone else. Get a custom design instead.

Originally, a site-specific work commissioned by the National Commission on Culture and the Arts for SUNGDU-AN, the national survey / exhibit of contemporary art in the Philippines. This year’s theme is Sungdu-an 4 : ExTensions.

In this video, we use the concept of tattoos or pintados in going back to some of the Philippines’ most popular icons and images that have evolved through history to shape the nation and people we are today.

Found this video titled “Erwin’s Filipino Star Tattoo” on Youtube. When you watch it, you’ll notice it’s a Sun not a Star. The tattoo & “Filipino Pride” trend/resurgence is a dangerous mix. While I understand that is probably just an honest Sun/Star mix-up, it brings up a few questions….do you know what your “Filipino” tattoos mean? Do your tattoos represent the pre or post Filipino?
