    It should have been PA-MIL-YA or PA-MI-LI-A.

    PA-MI-LA sounds like a white guy trying to say Family in tagalog.

    Actually, you are incorrect. Traditional Baybayin uses the Consonant-Vowel (CV) structure. PA-MI-YA is a correct traditional transliteration. The hyphen isn't represented in Baybayin, it's just used to show the separation of the Roman Alphabet equivalent.
