Look at how the 3 Stars and a Sun was made and blended with the first tattoo.

Again, this is from Jobeng Castro of Davao City. Credits to Rhostie and Yong for this tattoo.

Unlike other Asian countries, there are no booming orphanage in the Philippines for Filipinos love to keep and take care of their own parents or relatives till they grow old.

This also denotes the high respect and love of Edward with his family for his tattoo design showed it. This one is consists of 3 Stars and a Sun with the letters in family design that says his name “Edward Tumanan Tribue”.

Looks great but one character is upside down. Can anyone guess? If your going to get Baybayin tattooed, don’t use an online translator is they don’t know pronunciation and context. Either learn the script or ask someone for help.

Get a taste of their healthy dishes epecially seasoned with “bagoong”, a fermented fish that is substitute for salt for a more umami flavor. Not just that, be amazed with their white sand beaches and ancestral houses.

The first one is the “Sampaguita” which is the National Flower of the Philippines. Second is the Philippine 3 Stars and a Sun. And lastly are the words “Family Forever” in Ambigram style.

According to Tyler from Boston, MA, he was adopted out of his Filipino family and he is recently opening up to what he had missed.

There was this song with lyrics “babalik ka din” that pertains to those Filipinos who are in abroad. The message is that no matter how far you are you’ll still be back to your homeland.

Same as what’s happening to Tyler right now. Looking back at your homeland is just as good as saluting proudly to what you really are.

Bernie Rosales of San Jose, California had this tattoo in memory of his parents. His mother died four years ago and his dad past this January. He shared to us that his parents had been divorced for about 14 years when his mother passed. The tattoo is based on the photos of his parents during their honeymoon in Hong Kong way back 1968 when they were still young and in love.

Bernie prayed that may his parents be in peace now.

3 Stars and the Sun by Monster Tattoo

Mirasol is sight of the sun in English translation. But it can also be a sunflower and even someone else’s last name just like the owner of the tattoo above (now you know his complete name). Having said this, have you ever wondered why most of the Filipino last names are of Spanish origin?

Back then, during the colonial period, Spanish officials were going gaga every tax collection activities since members of the same family did not have the same last name. The father can be a Bonifacio and the son can be a Rizal. So, to make things more organized, Governor General Narciso Claveria issued the Alphabetical Catalogue of Surnames, mainly of Spanish names. It has been said, though not proven, that Filipinos should pick up a name from the catalogue and the rest of the members of their families must bear the same last name.
