“Proud to be and I’m not hiding it!”, a message from Allan of St. Pete, Florida along with his inspired by virtual game tattoo. His tattoo is a Philippine spaceship with 3 Stars and a Sun. Looking closely, you can see the Philippine Island inside the sun which greatly represents the country.

A very inspiring one especially to those who are virtual gamers. This one will make you think that Filipinos are very competitive and reigning even in the virtual world. And this is also one way of being nationalistic. Nowadays, even a three year old kid knows how to play computer games. We will not be surprised if one day Filipinos are among those whom what we call “Game Masters.” So keep the spirit, represent your country, fight for your country and be proud of it!

Bernie Rosales of San Jose, California had this tattoo in memory of his parents. His mother died four years ago and his dad past this January. He shared to us that his parents had been divorced for about 14 years when his mother passed. The tattoo is based on the photos of his parents during their honeymoon in Hong Kong way back 1968 when they were still young and in love.

Bernie prayed that may his parents be in peace now.

This tattoo was designed by Alisa of New York for her boyfriend. This version of 3 Stars and a Sun is surrounded with black circles and a sun that exactly connects to the 3 stars. We all know that 3 stars represent the clustered island of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. And this tattoo gives the idea of how beautiful it is when these three islands work together for the progress of thy country. The tattoo is also unique, for not all women would want their boyfriend to have a nationalistic tattoo. Of course they would want to have their name under their boyfriend’s skin. Not a cheesy preference for Alisa but a patriotic one.

Provinces of Ilocos, derived from Spanish word looc meaning sheltered coves, are well-known for tourist spots that are haven to many. There is La Union, the surf capital of the Philippines. The colonial houses in Vigan City. Pagudpud’s white sand beaches and crystal-blue sea water and more. Albeit the provinces’ abundant gold mines, beware of the Ilokanos for they are known as the frugality terrors.

And so, he calls himself Ilokano rather than Filipino. This one online survey mentions that an unperturbed Ilokano returns from Hawaii with coolers of what they call marunggai. I wonder if he’s one of those and what marunggai is.
