For those who don’t know, Perlas ng Silangan is another name of the Philippines. The island was named Perlas ng Silangan because it was the Filipino translation of Pearl of the Orient . The name was likely to hear and see in Philippine National Anthem “Lupang Hinirang”. Philippines is said to be the Pearl of the Orient because of its rich natural resources that attracted other races.

A very loving and respectful indeed, that is Bernard Pangilinan of Las Vegas. His tattoo is very meaningful and it has a heart. His tattoo includes blue and red parts of the Filipino flag represented by water and fire. He said he did this because he also wants to represent his children in his tattoo. His son’s name means “calming seas”. His daughter’s name means “life” and from fire comes new life. He wanted them to learn about their culture and described to them what their flag’s colors and symbols mean.

Kelly from South Carolina said that she joined the army and ended up in Louisiana. This tattoo started up with April, who she had been friend since she was 16 years old. April married married a soldier and happened to get stationed in Louisiana too. April offered Kelly to do a tattoo for free and this is the design she came up with.

And as you can see, Kelly’s tattoo design is the Philippine Sun and the word “Pinay” which pertains to her.

Truly a very Filipino at heart and at spirit. Need not to say more. Mabuhay ka Kelly!
