Einar Osmundson was born in Subic but grew up in San Diego, CA. In spite of growing up in different country, he wanted still to have something that will represent his root. So he had this Philippine Island and Pinoy pride tattoo wrapped around his forearm. At the outer forearm is the word “Pinoy Pride” and at the inner is the “Philippine Island” which has an effect of wave crashing around.

Jon from New Jersey already had a cross tattoo that represents his mother side and came up with this another tattoo (as shown in the image) and this time it represents his father side. Jon came up with Baybayin tattoo of his father’s last name with the help of Christian who drew the script.

The bearer of this tattoo, Malcolm Cruz Moran from Melbourne Australia, showed to us his version of Philippines 3 Stars and a Sun. In tribal and patterned design, Malcolm gave justice to his Filipino root through this tattoo. By this, he proclaimed that he is one true blooded Pinoy.

In addition to his Philippine Eagle tattoo that was posted before, Tyler cleaned up his Family Forever ambigram tattoo as seen in the photo. Adding up another tattoo on his arm basically means adding more of his Pinoy pride. His tattoos are getting more and more amazing as he gets through it. He is still planning to come up with more Pinoy tattoos the sooner.

This is a Pinoy tattoo of Zach Huling from Fruita, Colorado dedicated for his grandmother who passed away. He said that he will never forget his past with her Lola that’s why he had this one. Ashlee of Australia shared to us this tattoo image of his boyfriend Paul. According to her, his boyfriend is a Filipino and his tattoo design is a tribute for his Filipino culture.

As you can see, Paul’s tattoo has a Philippine Sun and the words “Filo Pride” at the middle. He shortened the word “Filipino” into “Filo”.

Its old-fashioned feel and historic charm style are some of the reasons why this type of font is famous and can be seen almost everywhere in the tattoo community. But very little is known on how the Old English Text font started. Nevertheless, one thing can best describe it: it was wonderfully made and developed.

Being compared to the famous Cloister Black by Morris Fuller Benton (1904), the Old English Text is classified under the Serif category as Blackletter and is known for its ornate capital letters and diamond-shaped serifs. Blackletter is one of the main kinds of Gothic letters and characterized with fiddly bits in the middle which are noticeable in Old English Text.

This font designed by William Caslon under Monotype Corporation Foundry is compatible with both Macintosh and Windows operating systems using the TrueType (.ttf) and OpenType (.otf) formats.

What’s up with the ambigram? Admit it or not, it started to gain popularity when Dan Brown’s Angels and Demons was released a few years back. The book contains the famous ambigram of Illuminati which, when inverted, reads just the same. But has ambigram something to do with us, Filipinos? Answer is yes.

Ambigram is becoming a famous tattoo subject for most. See Parokya ni Edgar vocalist Chito Miranda’s surname inked on his right arm. In no time, the internet will be bombarded with Filipinos tattooed with ambigram since it is the in-thing.

Since we already are speaking of being a part of the fad, Philippines is now being tagged as a nation of copycats. We have the Pinoy Idol, Survivor Philippines, Kakasa ka bas a Grade 5 and more. We need not to tell you their counterpart. Funny? Not. Whatever happened to Filipino’s creative side?
