Tribal with Baybayin

January 5, 2009 by Christian

Here’s a nice looking tribal shoulder piece with some Baybayin. Looks like DI-LA-DA-SA with a big E/I on the deltoid. Inked by Tha Kuya from San Diego, CA

    Hi Melchor,

I don’t do tribal but I can do Baybayin. If your in the San Diego area, contact the Kuya who did that tattoo.

    Awesome Tatt!!!!!
I’ve been planning on getting a tattoo very similar to this one since last year. One thing I am still battling is that I heard about tribal tattoo’s are capable of having spiritual attachments, specifically from native Native American and Mayan Tattoo’s, knowing the fact we have mayan blood in us. I don’t know if any knowledge of this phenomenon is apparent or understandable to anyone.

In my opinion, you make your tattoo whatever you like. One can have a tribal tattoo without “spiritual attachment” or not. It ultimately comes down to what you believe in. If a cross on your chest makes you feel better protected against “evil”, then more power to you. If barb wire around your arm makes you feel like you will get girls, then more power to you. It’s about the person rather than the tattoo. An atheist can have a “spiritual tattoo”. Like you said, there are a few things to think about before getting a cultural tattoo.

Im from the Cleveland, OH area and I don’t know of any tattoo artists around here that have experience with Filipino themed tattoos like the tribal one shown here. If you can help me out with maybe a design or a meaning or maybe if u know anyone from Cleveland that does it would be great.

i just wanted to know if there are any meanings of the tribals or if you blasted it as an art form. if there is, what are they? I’m trying to get some ideas for my sleeve. don’t worry, i won’t copy the designs. much mahalo!

just like Big D, I was wondering if those symbols have meaning. if so what are they. i have been doing research on the different tattoo symbols for months but they just isnt to much information online about them.

I am huge fan of this shoulder piece. my dad is from the Philipine Islands and has told me many stories of the unique art work. I was wondering if you could send me this piece through e-mail? If you could it would be greatly appreciated.
